WRITING POETRY REVIEWS:
Read for Your Readers with JOHN TIMPANE

A new collection of poems is always an event. Often, your review is your readers' first chance to see new poetry and look over someone else's shoulder (yours) as that reviewer reads it. A poetry review reports on that event, tells us who, what, where, etc., then ... go! In this workshop, we'll discuss why to review and how to stay focused simultaneously, always-always, in vivid, responsible detail, on the poetry and on the reader.

A former English professor at Rutgers University and Lafayette College, John is the author of several books on poetry and other subjects. For more than 20 years, John worked at the Philadelphia Inguirer, where he served as commentary page editor, features writer, book editor, and theater critic. He is a member of the band Car Radio Dog (on Spotify!), and his podcast is The Musical Innertube.
